So is she a brat or an alpha?
Brats vs Alphas
I feel more comfortable commenting on the distinction between the two now than I did even a couple of months ago. It isn’t a lengthy explanation or article. It’s pretty simple.
I own two women who have sometimes been called “brats.” I’ve called them this on occasion, but it isn’t accurate. I have been and always will be drawn to strong women with a sense of humor that is both sarcastic and biting. To collar one sense of humor is a crime against nature. Sassy is another term often used. So my two are snarky, sassy, and have razor-sharp tongues.
I’ll digress to say it is a miserable, biased thing how one gender is labeled with words like brat, sassy, shrew, bitch, etc. Any gender is just as likely to have the same kinds of folks in it. Western culture has just used these code words as ways to take power and prestige away from a particular gender. My discussion today is not meant to address this slight, but I do acknowledge it is very much real and very much present.
Phoebe, Rey, and I have discussed this extensively and established that it is fine for them to speak up and out. I’ll tease them or give them a look, but to try to keep them bottled up? That’s just wrong and doesn’t let them feel safe, seen, or more comfortable opening up further to me. They each know perfectly well that if I decide a line has been crossed, then they will pay for it on their bare ass or tortured nipples. A side note, masochists can be punished with pain. It’s just the mindset of it BEING a punishment that makes it work. Trust me, they learn their lessons well.
To other people, other dominants, they might seem slightly disrespectful at times, but that’s just strong, alpha submissives being who they are. If you can’t handle such women, then kindly step back before you get hurt. They will question you, poke you, tease you, and see if you’re strong enough to take it and dish it back out.
Want to check if your submissive/slave is a brat? I’d suggest reaching over and gently but carefully tugging on their collar. If their eyes cloud over, their breath becomes frantic, and the tone of their voice drops down into something adorable and very docile, then they are not a brat. Every submissive or slave wants and needs to get tugged once in a while. They crave it. The trick, the timing, and judgment of a good dominant is to know when to tug and when to let go.
