I know I hinted at writing a review of “Babygirl” that nora recommended but then went and found out it is a bit expensive to rent. I’ll be blunt. Nicole Kidman at 57 for that price? I’ll wait…a while.
This is a movie I watched about a month and a half ago. It is on Netflix and I don’t know if they are being proprietary about it but it was good. Yes, Yes, it has Megan Fox, but that wasn’t the only reason I was interested in it. My major interest was in the AI aspect of it. The idea of AI and making AI creatures into servants/slaves is good sci-fi fare. It is becoming more and more less sci-fi and more reality.
I’ll try to write this so I don’t spoil it for you but give you an idea of what you are getting into if you watch it.
Let’s talk rating first. It has the R for language, violence, and sexual situations rather specific ones. Nudity? Not really…yeah, I was bummed, too
Our main character is a guy who has a wife and daughter. He’s working hard in a tech company. His wife is sick and needs a heart-transplant. Someone suggests the idea of getting one of those new AI-robot assistants.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, he gets the Megan Fox model. She is to help with the household and child care. Of course, it doesn’t stay that way. The slippery slope of temptation begins to take its toll.
From there, things get very complex and complicated. It even turns quite violent. There are subtle hints of D/s dynamic to it but that isn’t really emphasized. They avoid the term Master by using Primary User. There’s even a very dark and interesting twist at the end of it.
As I said, I’d recommend it to rent. To buy? Mmm…I wouldn’t because its watchability to me isn’t all that great after the first time, but maybe you’ll feel different. I’m not even sure it is available for purchase yet.
Well, my first movie review. I hope you enjoyed it.
