Judging a Book by it’s Cover

I am not hyping these authors, although I do enjoy Shane Hammond. He’s getting much better and finally wrote a menage scene in one of his last books so far. I mean, really, if you’re going to write harem novels then you need to be able to master the art of a menage situation.

I’m putting these here to illustrate a point I was making to marie, a fellow blogger. She posted on her blog about judging a book by its cover. I replied with my frustration at the outrageous covers that get put on these male-targeted book. It’s like a trumpet blaring to anyone who sees you with the book or sees it in your kindle library (I do recommend Kindle Unlimited) KNOWS you’re reading a S E X book!

Women authors or publishers are so much more wise and sedate in their covers with just rugged men WITH clothes all on for their covers or a well-dressed, confidant woman in a group of men. These are books that can go under the social radar. People just think it’s a romance novel. With the covers above, people begin to shift away from the pervert nearby them.

Sigh…I know guys are guys and are visual but, come on! Do you really need to insult my intelligence like this? Well, there’s my rant and I wanted to show marie some examples.

  1. Ahh yes – these covers are a bit much for me but a lot of women’s fantasy smut have similar covers! In truth, most people I know read these on kindles – maybe for this very reason? 🤭

    1. Quite true…thanks for the comment, Marie.

I tried not judging books by their cover, for a while. But I found that the book with Beyonce on the cover was absolutely no help, with fixing my motorbike 🙂
